Pain Management

PAIN is one of the most commonly heard complaints in clinics. This unpleasant sense of discomfort, in most cases associated with tissue damage or inflammation, is the second most common reason for clinic visits (upper respiratory diseases being the first) in our country. Depending on its duration and frequency, we may simply categorize the pain into two types: Acute and Chronic. Acute pain is defined as pain that comes on quickly, can be severe, but lasts a relatively short time. It may arise suddenly in response to a specific injury. Chronic pain usually refers to the pain that persists over a long period of time, and is often resistant to medical treatment, therefore, has become one of the most common factors that affect life quality.

At Global healthcare, we have a team of well-trained physicians specializing in pain management. With integration of western and traditional medicine (TCM), we provide the most advanced medical techniques in solving the clinical pain-related diseases. In addition to offering conventional medicine, one of the highlights of our service is TCM therapy, which includes: Acupuncture; Moxibustion; Tuina; (Traditional Chinese bodywork) Qi-Gong; Cupping; Herbal steaming-washing therapy; Electric stimulation; and Acu-point injection. Over the past years, we’ve had extensive experience in treating various pain-related diseases such as migraine headaches, cervical pain, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, back and lower back pain, knee pain, sciatica, arthritis, osteoarthritis, sports injuries, and variety of musculoskeletal and neurological problems. Through our individualized treatment plan, clinical evidence has proven the significant effectiveness of TCM therapies in various pain states.

Presently, people are becoming more aware that this is a natural, safe and effective therapeutic approach to pain relief and related functional recovery. Patients suffering from pain, particularly the chronic type, who are not treated effectively, or those who have found themselves too dependent upon drugs for pain relief could benefit greatly from Acupuncture and other alternative therapies.

The goal of pain management treatment is to restore the body function, enabling individuals to work, attend school or participate in other day-to-day activities, and reconstruct one’s normal life.
